Sleeves in the Summer
Even though I have lived in Southern California my whole life, I still find myself complaining about the heat. It has been ridiculously hot the past few weeks which means it is time to bust out those summer dresses, shorts, and sleeveless shirts… right? Well, I found this ultra cute dress on ASOS that was long-sleeved, but I still considered it a perfect summer dress. Take a look below to see how I styled it for the summer!
Print & Color
The dress only comes in white, a color I pretty much wear only in the spring and summer months. For anything floral print, I prefer when the actual flowers are smaller rather than large-scale. I think my favorite part of the dress is actually the top or the added ruffle of the sleeves. It reminds me of an updated peasant-styled dress with the ruffle details, billowy top, and layered hemline. I actually pushed the sleeves up so it was more 3/4 length, which I preferred over the full length sleeve and to show a little more skin because it’s summer!
I ordered this a size up, so the silhouette was a little off. I keep making the mistake of underestimating a garment I purchase online in terms of size, where I am afraid everything runs small. But I figured it’s easier to fix something that’s a little oversized than undersized! To fix this, I used a belt at the waist where it should have been a little more cinched. To match the belt, I wore my brown lace up sandals from Steve Madden, which actually matched the style of the dress perfectly. This look is definitely inspired by the countryside & the word ‘prairie’ comes to mind when I see the dress. I think it’s because of the delicate print, peasant styled top, and overall daintiness of the look!
You can actually purchase the dress on sale & I have added some similar dresses below for your viewing and shopping pleasure!
