Black Staples

Today, I wanted to feature some of my new favorite closet staples. Also, they all happen to be (mostly) black, which is always going to be my favorite color to wear. I notice that when my friends and I have a girl’s night out, we always all end up wearing black, which makes our pictures turn out cuter since we match! I took this ‘girls night out’ idea and styled 3 looks featuring these staple pieces!

 Staple 1: Black Slip

Slip – Blush Clothing Playhouse

I have been loving the slip dress since they came back into style. This black one I purchased from Blush Clothing Playhouse is absolutely perfect. The material is really silky and shiny and I love the delicate lace detail on the hemline & neckline. By itself, this dress is already sexy and glam, but I thought it would be funner to style it differently. I ditched the strappy sandals I would have paired with it in favor of my trusty black ankle boots. Also, I chose a long cardigan because I wanted to add a draped layer. I can imagine wearing this to a concert or barhopping with my girls downtown.

Staple 2: Black Lace Bodysuit

Bodysuit – Tobi, Skirt – Necessary Clothing

I featured this look on Instagram recently and found everyone thought it was a dress! It is actually a bodysuit paired with this gorgeous pencil skirt. This just goes to show that a bodysuit is a great staple to have because it  can easily be transformed. This lacy bodysuit is from Tobi and can be found here! Not only does it come in a cute lace material, but it’s also very flattering and form fitting. The skirt & heels are from Necessary Clothing. This skirt itself could also be a great staple to have itself! But the real statement of this look would have to be the bodysuit. Definitely a look for a more glamorous outing, like a fancy hotel rooftop bar 😉

Staple 3: (Almost) Black Matching Set

Top & Bottom – Tobi, Shoes – Steve Madden

Having a matching set is a great staple to have! I am not saying this particular look is a staple itself, but the idea of having a matching set is. This black floral number is also from Tobi, available here and here! The black and the pink flowers make such a cute combination. I paired it with these blush-colored heels from Steve Madden and a matching pink purse from Kate Spade. This is probably the girliest look of the bunch, which is totally my style (not that the other two aren’t, but this one resembles me most).

So there you have it, 3 looks featuring some black staples you may already have or can easily find! For direct links to these pieces please see below!

Til next time,

April
