A Day in my Chelsea Boots featuring the Huntington Library

The sun peeked out after a few days of rain, which was perfect timing for my visit to the Huntington Library. Also, this day was the day I helped my future brother-in-law propose to my sister in the Rose Garden. In fact, the Huntington Library has very romantic spots and it is a perfect place to pop the question. My favorite parts are Shakespeare’s Garden, the Rose Garden, Chinese Garden, and the Japanese Garden.

The Huntington Library is situated in the middle of the beautiful community of San Marino and makes for a nice drive. It is absolutely a must see if you are visiting LA and in need of an escape from the city. Please read on for details about my look and more shots of the picturesque views within the park.

Chelsea Boots: Comfortable Chic

Because the Huntington Library covers over 120 acres, comfortable shoes are a must. I recently purchased these Chelsea Boots before my trip to Sonoma. These are actually rain boots, but I figured some of the ground would be muddy at the park. I am all for functional style and I have been wearing these almost every chance I get. Recently, I started pairing ankle boots with high socks to give the illusion of wearing knee or thigh-high boots. Because it was slightly chilly, I wore sheer tights with my mini rust-colored suede skirt. Paired with the skirt, is my favorite Winter basic, the black ribbed cropped sweater from Missguided. This look was a great balance of comfortable & chic, perfect for a nice stroll through the park.

Glimpses of Huntington Library

This time of year, the roses were in bloom, the trees have changed color, and the leaves were slowly falling. There are plenty of areas within the park to sit and admire all the craftsmanship behind the elaborate gardens. In the photo gallery above, I took pictures of just small parts of the park. I find that it does not matter which season you decide to visit because the park remains well kept year round. However, the rose garden is in bloom only sometimes and is truly a beautiful sight when it is.  There is also a small art museum in the middle of the grounds, which is nice if you want to take a little break between walking around the different gardens.

Til next time,

April
